Why winterize your boat in Haute-Savoie

The Alpine climate of our beautiful Haute-Savoie is harsh. In winter, temperatures stay below 0 °C for long stretches. Nighttime humidity and frost put extreme thermal stress on hulls and engines. Without a thorough drain, repairing a cracked engine block costs 5 to 10 times more than preventive professional winterization.

Water left trapped in the heat exchangers or the crankcase freezes and expands, permanently cracking the metal of the inboard engine.

Solution: Draining and antifreeze injection

Long periods under cover encourage condensation, which damages upholstery, vinyl and plastics and leaves mildew stains.

Solution: Ventilated, anti-condensation indoor storage

Winter Alpine sun and snow damage the hull gelcoat, fade colors and crack the seals.

Solution: 100% covered shelter

In extreme cold, a battery left unattended suffers an irreversible deep discharge, and the boat won't start in spring.

Solution: Removal & charge cycles

Our process

How boat winterization works

01

Fill out our short online form. We get back to you with a fixed, detailed price sheet based on the actual size of your boat's hull and the type of engine.

02

We pick up your boat on a trailer at the Doussard marina and take it straight to our workshop.

03

Complete cleaning of the hull and interior so your boat is clean before it goes into indoor storage.

04

Oil change, frost protection, fuel stabilization and a complete check of the engine and equipment. The exact list of operations is included in your quote.

05

Your boat is placed in our secure 3,000 m² building, sheltered from the weather until spring.

06

Battery reconnection, engine start-up and operating check, accessory inspection and general visual check.

07

We relaunch your boat at the Doussard marina on the date of your choice.

Service areas

Lake Annecy, Lake Bourget and Lake Geneva

We are based in Haute-Savoie, in Saint-Jorioz, on the shore of Lake Annecy. We have no facility on Lake Bourget or Lake Geneva, and our storage building is not on the waterfront: that is exactly what lets us winterize your boat in a closed, frost-free building instead of under a tarp by the water. We pick it up from your mooring, or you bring it to us.

Lake Annecy, our home waters

Lake Annecy, one of the cleanest lakes in Europe, has its own quirks, and we know them inside out.

Local freezing at the far end of the lake

The main lake rarely freezes, but the Bout-du-lac (Doussard) and shallow areas can ice over in a hard frost: we haul boats out before the first November frosts.

The north wind (bise)

The bise kicks up a short chop on the main lake and strains moorings and cleats: all the more reason to take your boat out of the water before winter.

Every marina on the lake

From the Albigny marina to the jetties of Sevrier, Saint-Jorioz, Duingt and Talloires, we know every launch ramp and every crane slot.

Clean water, well-preserved hulls

The lake's very clean water barely fouls hull bottoms; our winterization focuses on protecting the engine and the upholstery from humidity.

Expert answers

Your questions, our answers

Winterization should ideally start as soon as the summer season ends, between September and November, before the first Alpine cold snaps. Waiting until December increases the risk of frozen water getting into the hull or engine block by 75%, causing irreparable cracks.
