Boat storage & winterization on Lake Geneva: Thonon, Évian, Yvoire

Lake Geneva does not freeze, and that is exactly what catches owners out: its sub-zero nights are enough to crack an engine block that has not been properly drained. Every year, we winterize boats from Thonon, Évian, the Chablais and the Geneva shore. Our indoor boat storage facility is in Haute-Savoie, not on the lake. That is what allows us to keep your boat in an enclosed, frost-free building all winter long, rather than at the dock or under a cover. Throughout the winter, your boat stays in our enclosed, frost-free buildings in Haute-Savoie, where our technicians carry out the engine winterization and any service you entrust to us.

Winterization solutions tailored to your boat

Lake Geneva doesn't freeze, and that is exactly the trap: nothing warns the owner, yet a single night below zero is enough to crack an engine block whose cooling system hasn't been drained. The lake is our most distant area, so we plan the pickup accordingly.

Haul-out from Thonon to Geneva

Port de Rives, Ripaille, Amphion, Évian or the Geneva shore: we agree on the marina and the crane slot together.

Transport from the Chablais and the Swiss shore

Your boat comes to our storage facility in Haute-Savoie. From Switzerland, the border crossing is prepared in advance.

Complete draining of all systems

This is the critical step on a lake that doesn't freeze: the owner thinks the boat is safe, but the engine isn't.

Hard-water treatment and recommissioning

Lake Geneva's water leaves limescale in the cooling systems. Descaling, inspection and relaunch in spring.

Why trust us?

From one shore to the other, Lake Geneva doesn't pose the same challenges: the bise in the Chablais, the Petit Lac near Geneva where the wind funnels, the hard water of the Haut-Lac. To be frank, it's our most distant area, which is all the more reason to settle the logistics before committing.

Our local knowledge

Winterization on Lake Geneva: what we know about these waters

From one shore to the other, Lake Geneva doesn't pose the same challenges: here is what we look at before hauling out a boat from the Chablais, the Haut-Lac or the Petit Lac.

Lake Geneva (almost) never freezes

Too large and deep to freeze, Lake Geneva mainly exposes your water systems to overnight frost and your hulls to storms: engine winterization is still essential.

The bise, queen of Lake Geneva

The northeasterly bise whips up big waves and spray that freezes on the jetties: we haul boats out before the autumn bise storms.

The Petit Lac and the funneled bise

Between Geneva and Yvoire, the narrower Petit Lac funnels the bise: the swell builds fast, putting boats left afloat to the test.

A lakefront that empties out in winter

Packed in summer, the Thonon lakefront is quiet in winter: haul-outs and transport run smoothly.

Hard water

Lake Geneva's limescale deposits mark hull bottoms: our winterization includes high-pressure cleaning before storage.

Cross-border logistics

We arrange boat transport between the Swiss and French shores of Lake Geneva and handle the logistics between the two countries.

Our service areas around Lake Geneva

Lake Geneva is our most distant area, and we will be upfront about it: the simplest option is for you to bring the boat to our workshop, and we take care of everything from there: haul-out, engine winterization, frost-free boat storage and recommissioning in the spring. Boat transport from Lake Geneva is still possible, from Thonon, Évian, Yvoire and Sciez to the Swiss shore. Tell us the size of your boat and the marina, and we will let you know within 24 hours whether we can take it on and on what terms.
